Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 12, 2026

Clarifie is an academic management platform for college and university students. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain English — if anything is unclear, email us at support@clarifie.app.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

  • Account details. Your name and email address when you sign up — either directly or through Google sign-in.
  • Profile & onboarding. Details you choose to share to personalize Clarifie: school type, academic year, major/minor, expected graduation, your study rhythm and daily study hours, and your goals.
  • Your coursework. Classes you add (name, code, term, meeting times), commitments (like work shifts), deadlines and to-dos, your study plan and any notes or links you save to it, and your preferred study times.
  • Uploaded files. Syllabi you upload, stored privately so only your account can access them.
  • Basic technical data. Standard information needed to keep you signed in and to operate and secure the app.

How we use your information

  • Provide the core service — reading your syllabus to suggest deadlines, building your calendar, and generating your study plan.
  • Power AI features you choose to use, such as syllabus extraction and (where available) course help.
  • Keep your account secure and troubleshoot problems.
  • Personalize your experience based on the profile details you provide.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your coursework or syllabi to train our own advertising or profiling models.

AI features

When you use an AI feature — for example, extracting deadlines from a syllabus — the relevant content (such as your syllabus file or course details) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate a result and returned to you. This processing happens to provide the feature you requested. AI output can occasionally be inaccurate, so we ask you to review suggestions (like extracted deadlines) before saving them.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that help us run Clarifie, and only as needed to provide the service:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and secure file storage.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Google — if you choose to sign in with Google (we receive your basic profile: name, email, and profile info).
  • Anthropic — processes content you submit to AI features to generate responses.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

How we protect your data

Your data is isolated per account — the database enforces row-level security so you can only access your own records, and uploaded syllabi live in a private storage area scoped to your account. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we'll delete it, except where we're required to keep certain records to comply with the law.

Your choices & rights

  • Access, update, or correct your information from within the app or by contacting us.
  • Delete classes, deadlines, syllabi, and study blocks at any time.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the app. We don't use them for third-party advertising.

Students & eligibility

Clarifie is intended for college and university students. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Clarifie evolves. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we'll take reasonable steps to let you know.
